Hair Loss. Chills. Restlessness. Fatigue. Loneliness. These are all but a few side effects facing people who battle cancer. During these challenging times, care and support are needed the most. This is where The Pink Hope Foundation steps in, by providing keepsakes that offer a glimmer of warmth and love through times of uncertainty.
Founded in 2024, The Pink Hope Foundation is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization formed to be a pillar of encouragement and strength for those fighting cancer and the loved ones who care for them. Through fundraising and donations, the organization will provide comfy hats and sherpa blankets to cancer patients who may need an extra layer of warmth and security during their treatment. These keepsakes, branded with The Pink Hope Foundation’s bright and cheerful logo, will be donated to Hospice Care, Hospitals, and impacted families throughout the country.
The Pink Hope Foundation was founded by Maria Howell during her personal journey as the caretaker for her mother Helena, who was diagnosed with Stage 4 Breast Cancer on 12/23/2021. Overcome with different emotions throughout her experience, she realized the importance of support -- not only those battling cancer but for their loved ones as well. With a mission to assist those in need and always give back, The Pink Hope Foundation was born.
“Life isn’t about waiting for the storm to be over, it’s about learning how to dance in the rain.” – Anonymous
This is our favorite moment of Helena dancing in Puerto Rico. As you can see, she was so full of life and light. Despite challenges, she danced. Despite pain, she danced. Despite uncertainty, she danced.
In 2015 Helena had a small mass removed from her left breast. On 12/23/2021 she was diagnosed with stage four breast cancer. While awaiting treatment she learned the cancer had spread to her lungs, then liver, and would later on spread to her brain. After her diagnosis, her only daughter, Maria became her primary care giver who assisted her mom with active daily living and doctor visits. Helena found solace in having her daughter by her side. On 10/11/2023, Helena graduated from this world and received her heavenly invite into the glorious kingdom to take her final rest.
Helena was a loving mother, grandmother, great grandmother and sister. She was loved by her co-workers and was a loyal friend.
At The Pink Hope Foundation, we encourage you all to dance.
And, we'll be right here to cheer you on every step of the way!
